MARKLEVILLE — The town of Markleville has adopted its comprehensive plan. Now, it’s time to implement it.

Town Council President Daniel Roseberry said the first order of business will be to beautify the town, starting with a town sign.

He said the town already has a sign reading “Markleville,” but officials want something a little more welcoming.

Beautifying the city would be the most cost-effective goal in the comprehensive plan, he said.

More than that, Roseberry said it would show residents their town government’s intent for improving the community.

As of Wednesday, no specific plans had been formalized. Officials are hoping to have multiple beautification projects underway by the end of 2024.

The current order of business comes per recommendations from the Madison County Council of Governments, the consulting firm that helped Markleville formulate its comprehensive plan.
