'Not the way I wanted to wake up': Bloomington news website ceases publication

For more than five years, the site, created and run by journalist Dave Askins, had focused on writing, usually with meticulousness, about local government affairs.

Askins frequently attended all kinds of local government meetings. He reported on major local political powers, from the mayor’s office and the city council to the county commissioners. But he also attended meetings of the smaller, often appointed boards and commissions whose discussions usually take place in empty rooms but often portend major effects on the local populace.

“I’m just old and tired,” Askins posted Friday morning in his final bulletin.
