— The Evansville City County has given its unanimous support to a $20 million public financing package for development of a Downtown convention hotel to facilitate events held at The Centre and the Ford Center.

The vote, taken in special session at Monday afternoon, reverses weeks of sometimes acrimonious wrangling over the city's incentive package for the planned 253-room Hilton DoubleTree hotel to be developed by HCW of Branson, Mo.

The package, in addition to a city subsidy, will include contributions from Vanderburgh County, the Convention & Visitors Bureau and a coallition of private investors. County money will be used for renovations to The Centre and for sky bridges linking the hotel and the two venues.
