Zionsville — Zionsville was recently named one of 17 central Indiana community Super Celebration sites by the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee. This designation will give a boost to the entire county, said Valerie Swack, Zionsville Town Council member.

Swack, also a member of the local Zionsville Super Bowl committee, the Zbowl, said the town began the formal application process in January and had to ensure it would hold art-, family- and food-related events during the week of the Super Bowl. And those events will hopefully bring both out-of-state and in-state visitors to Boone County.

“This is a great way for us to introduce ourselves to visitors to Indianapolis, and also a great way to introduce residents of neighboring counties — even Boone County,” Swack said. “It’s reintroducing yourself to people who may live right down the street but never come in.”

As part of being a celebration site, there will be a bus running a loop from Prudential Realty in Zionsville to downtown Indianapolis to bring visitors up to Zionsville, but also to bring local residents downtown. During the week of the Super Bowl, Swack said the National Football League will buy up all the downtown parking spaces, and transportation in Indianapolis will be very difficult.
