Police arrested Owen County Commissioner Dale Dubois Tuesday on felony charges that allege he directed county workers to make repairs to a local road for his own advantage.

Dale E. Dubois, 82, who lives near the town of Poland, is charged with official misconduct of a public servant and conflict of interest, both felonies, and also with misdemeanor theft.

He turned himself in at the Owen County Jail at 4:53 Tuesday afternoon and was released an hour later after posting 10% of his $7,500 bond. An initial court hearing is expected to be held this week in Owen Circuit Court.

Dubois, the owner of Dubois Excavating in Poland, could not be reached Wednesday morning.

He was elected to the three-member governing board in 2020. Dubois beat three other Republican candidates in the primary, then won the commissioners' seat in the November election by 2,621 votes.
