IU Health Bloomington Hospital’s board, in conjunction with the IU HealthSystem, plans to decide in 2013 about when and where a new hospital will be built.
Mark Moore, IU Health Bloomington Hospital’s president and CEO, said the decision to build a new hospital within five years was part of the 2011 merger agreement between IU Health and Bloomington Hospital, but it has yet to be decided when construction will begin and whether the new facility will be built on the 85 acres the hospital owns in North Park or the 30 acres it owns at its downtown site.
Moore said it’s too early to estimate the cost of a new hospital until it’s determined where it will be, how large it will be, and what construction costs are when it’s built.
