— An Indiana transportation official said Thursday the state will put a new deal on the table - $10 million for the construction of a new New Harmony bridge as long as locals take ownership.

Troy Woodruff, chief of staff with the Indiana Department of Transportation, said the state has said they will offer the $10 million, which is what they believe will be about half of construction costs.

“We’re willing to put some skin in the game to get the discussion started,” he said. “So we’re willing to put that out there, and we’ll follow up with everybody to put this in writing. Part of that is the local community will have to take ownership of a new bridge.”
