MUNCIE— Although it’s a decision they say they do not want to make, four out of five Muncie Community Schools Board members say they see no other viable option than one high school.
Board members shared their thoughts on the future of the district during a Thursday night work session.
Members Tony Costello, Debbie Feick, Robert Warrner and Michael Long said they were in favor of one high school. Board President Beverly Kelley said she was adamant about keeping two high schools.
This was the second work session called to discuss facility usage in an attempt to drastically cut costs. The board will vote on a final decision during a 6:30 p.m. meeting Nov. 18 meeting at Muncie Area Career Center.
No official vote was taken during Tuesday’s meeting, MCS Supt. Tim Heller clarified, with the board’s legal counsel Bill Hughes looking on. Board members, he said, were only asked to give their opinions.
