Indiana-based Fiber Global Inc., a manufacturer of engineered wood products, is planning to spend $29.4 million to open a manufacturing facility in Whitestown where it will employ more than 100 workers by 2029.

According to Wednesday’s announcement from Whitestown officials and the Boone County Economic Development Corp., Lafayette-based Fiber Global will lease existing space at 5352 Performance Way, where it will make building materials including medium-density fibreboard, high-density fibreboard, plywood and particleboard using post-consumer waste. Its flagship product, Forged Fiber Board, is manufactured from reclaimed corrugated cardboard and bio-based resin.

Founded in 2023, Fiber Global opened its first large manufacturing plant, which it calls Mega Factory, in August in Brownsburg. The 150,000-square-foot facility is expected to employ 100 when it becomes fully operational.

The Whitestown factory, to be called Mega Factory 2, will be three times larger than the Brownsburg plant, according to company officials. The building contains 380,000 leasable square feet on 27 acres. Work on equipping the new plant is expected begin by the end of this year.

Whitestown officials have approved a five-year tax abatement at the new plant that will save the company 100% on personal property taxes the first year, 80% in the second, 60% in the third, 40% in the fourth and 20% in the fifth. The abatement notes that Fiber Global estimates that it will eventually have 140 employees at the site making average annual wages of nearly $75,000.

“We are excited to welcome Fiber Global to Whitestown,” Whitestown Town Manager Katie Barr said in written comments. “Their investment will bring new higher paying jobs, growth in the tax base, and a focus on green manufacturing that aligns with our vision for a sustainable future. We believe this partnership will strengthen our economy, support workforce development and elevate Whitestown’s profile as a hub for advanced responsible industry.”

In June, Fiber Global announced it had raised $20 million in Series A funding. The round, one of the largest capital raises by an Indiana company this year, was led by San Francisco-based DBL Partners, with managing partner Ira Ehrenpreis joining Fiber Global’s board of directors. Fiber Global said the funds would be used to expand its manufacturing footprint.

“Fiber Global is proudly headquartered in Indiana, and Whitestown is the right location for us to expand as we rapidly scale our operations,” KC McCreery, company founder and CEO, said in written remarks. “We are excited to forge new partnerships with the community of Whitestown and will engage in ways to drastically reduce abundant global waste streams from going to landfills in our local communities.”
