House bill: Sell ethanol, get tax breaks

If a recently passed Indiana House of Representatives bill gets by the next set of hurdles and becomes law, Hoosiers could have more chances to use clean-burning fuels and give money back to local businesses and farmers.

The bill, House Bill 1646, passed the House at the end of February. It offers tax incentives to local retailers who sell one of two varieties of ethanol rather than traditional gasoline made from 100 percent crude oil - 60 percent of which comes from foreign sources, general manager of Central Indiana Ethanol LLC Mitch Miller said Monday.
