FERDINAND — Möbel, Inc. will cease manufacturing operations within the next 30 days, CEO Paul Ruhe confirmed in a press release today.
Möbel began operations in 1971 in several structures covering 38,000-square-foot and has expanded to a 200,000-square-foot facility today. The Ferdinand company is on Industrial Park Road on the town’s west side. The company, at one point, had as many as 150 employees.
“This is a strategic decision by Möbel,” Ruhe said. “Möbel and its employees have manufactured quality furniture for over 43 years with the support of the local community and its many wonderful business partners.
“Despite the company’s attempts to overcome obstacles presented by today’s economy, management has determined that it cannot continue to operate profitably.”
Möbel has notified its dealers and will continue to accept orders through Feb. 17, or until its inventory is depleted, at which point it will engage in operations to liquidate remaining inventory.
Decisions on the future use of the facility have not yet been made, Ruhe said.
