Between now and the end of the year, the jobs of 50 people will be eliminated at IU Health Bloomington Hospital — in a move that will save the 355-bed facility hundreds of thousands of dollars.
“The decision to eliminate even one position on our team of 3,000 individuals is reached only after much discussion and thoughtful analysis,” said Mark Moore, president and CEO of IU Health Bloomington. “However, we believe that in order to continue to achieve our mission of providing affordable and quality care to our patients, these reductions are necessary.”
Moore did not specify what jobs would be eliminated, other than to say they will primarily include full-time clinical and support department positions, though some will be part-time positions.
“We hope fewer than 50 people will lose their jobs,” he said. “Because some employees may retire or move away, we may be able to preserve some people’s employment by moving them to an existing position or reassigning their duties to another area.”
