INDIANAPOLIS | Indiana's roads, rails, buses and airports are poised to a get an in-depth examination with a goal of preparing to meet the state's 2035 transportation needs.

A House committee Wednesday approved House Bill 1371, setting up a House-Senate committee that over the next five years will assess Indiana's transportation infrastructure, make plans for the future -- and find a way to pay for it.

State Rep. Ed Soliday, R-Valparaiso, is sponsor of the legislation. As chairman of the House transportation committee, Soliday would head the joint infrastructure committee in its first year if enacted.

The measure now advances to the full House.
