Six of nine White River Valley School District teachers, who had their contracts canceled last month in a reduction in force action, were recalled in an unanimous vote by the school board on Thursday night.
Superintendent Layton Wall said none of the recalled teachers have been assigned special positions at the current time.

The previous cuts were announced in light of what Wall called challenging financial times.

Wall pointed out that four teacher retirements and other staff changes -- including the promotion of classroom teacher Jill Staggs to be the new principal at WRV/Worthington Elementary School, made the recalls possible.
