Whitestown — Whitestown and Worth Township are exploring a merger similar to that which brought Eagle and Union Townships and Zionsville into a “rural/urban” government organization that has become one of the largest towns in Indiana.

The Worth Township-Whitestown Reorganization Committee was recently created “to look for ways to bring the two units together in a way that serves the residents of our community as effectively as we can,” said Tim Jorczak, the committee’s chairman.

Six subcommittees have been created to examine public safety, government organization and finance, planning and zoning, roads and transportation, utilities and public works, and civic and social services, he said.

“This is a great opportunity for everybody in the town and township to get involved,” Jorczak said.
