Bloomington Area Arts Council suspended by IAC, won't administer grants

As a result of a statewide audits conducted recently, and possibly other factors, the Bloomington Area Arts Council has been suspended by the Indiana Arts Commission.

"Technically, they are in a suspended status for the fiscal year 2010," IAC spokesman Rex Van Zant said Friday. "Grants will still be coming in to Region 8 (BAAC's 6-county region), but they will be administered through us."

"From my standpoint, it doesn't affect us at all," BAAC interim director Rob Hanrahan said on Friday. "It just affects how pass-through money is being allocated."
