SOUTH BEND - As city officials look for ways to preserve the public safety budget, the idea of asking the University of Notre Dame to chip in for traffic management at football games came up again Wednesday.

"Our financial situation has changed drastically, and I would encourage administration and the council to once again enter into some type of discussion with Notre Dame in terms of the costs we're looking at," said council member Karen White, D-at large.
