Dwyer Instruments to add 62 employees at Wakarusa in Elkhart County

Dwyer Instruments plans to hire up to 62 people by the end of the year as part of an expansion of its operations in Wakarusa.

The Michigan City-based company will consolidate manufacturing operations from a facility in Puerto Rico into the Wakarusa facility and add a new product line, according to a written statement from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. It already employs more than 60 people at the plant.

Dwyer makes industrial gauges, instruments, sensors and controls. The Wakarusa project will cost $500,000, which includes buying new technology and equipment for scale printing operations, according to the statement.

The IEDC has offered Dwyer $45,500 in performance-based tax credits and up to $30,500 in training grants, according to the statement. The town of Wakarusa also will consider a property-tax abatement.
