Every individual state legislator probably believes he or she is standing up for Hoosiers as the argument over the state budget continues. Each will say to constituents that the Democrats or Republicans (take your pick) are protecting taxpayers from spending proposals that will be harmful to the state if passed.

They need to get over themselves. The 2009 session of the Indiana General Assembly is a train wreck, showcasing the way lawmakers pontificate and posture as taxpayers twist in the wind.
