MUNCIE -- Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora in December announced a partial hiring freeze -- faculty and essential employees like police officers are excluded -- after receiving a phone call from Gov. Mitch Daniels' office about the economic shortfall facing the state.
"As we look at reductions in every sector of the economy, we cannot expect higher education to be spared sacrifice," Gora told BSU employees.
