The Huntington City Council has approved a tax abatement for Good Humor-Breyers, which plans to spend more than $6 million for new manufacturing equipment at its Huntington ice-cream plant.

The council also approved an abatement for M&S Industrial Metal Fabricators, which is investing $500,000 in new equipment.

Good Humor-Breyers, a division of Unilever, said its investment will add seven new jobs to its work force of 193. The investment by M&S will allow it to retain 71 members of its work force.

"Huntington is very proud of these two employers and we offer our congratulations and thanks," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County United Economic Development.

"Both of these industries are among the finest examples of corporate citizens a community could hope for. Their employees not only enjoy working for solid corporations, but they are visibly involved in making our community a better place to live," Wickersham said in a written statement.
