ANDERSON — The sale of properties owned by the Anderson Redevelopment Commission for two major economic development projects in the city has been approved.

The Redevelopment Commission voted Tuesday to sell 80 acres to NTN Driveshaft and 11.8 acres to the Flagship Enterprise Center for the Purdue Polytechnic and Maker Space on Scatterfield Road.

Groundbreaking for the Purdue College of Technology is set for Sept. 15. Plans call for the construction of a 94,000-square-foot facility, which will be located north of the Ford Autoworld dealership on Scatterfield Road. The facility is expected to be completed in late 2016.

Purdue Polytechnic Anderson will lease 44,000 square feet, and the remaining 50,000 square feet will be used for start-up companies.

Purdue University has signed a 15-year lease on the space and will pay utility costs, building upkeep and any possible property taxes on the facility.

NTN plans to invest $84.5 million to construct the 325,000-square-foot building, creating 311 jobs by December 2018.

NTN Driveshaft CEO Jim Riggs said the second proposal phase includes a $60 million investment and the creation of 100 additional jobs beginning in 2019.

In July, the Anderson Economic Development Commission and Anderson City Council approved the issuance of up to $15 million in bonds to cover the cost of construction.

The bonds will be repaid through a combination of Tax Increment Financing District and Community Revitalization Enhancement District (CREed) revenues. The CREed District is expected to generate $11,260,000 over the next 15 years.

Greg Winkler, executive director of the Anderson Economic Development Department, said the Flagship Enterprise Center is reimbursing the Redevelopment Commission for the purchase of the property at a cost of $949,792.

Winkler said the sales price for the land includes the cost of the design, engineering and legal work.

The commission approved the sale of 40 acres to NTN Driveshaft at the intersection of 73rd Street and Layton
