Teachers in the North Posey school district will receive a 1 percent pay stipend for the current school year and 1 percent stipend and 0.5 percent raise for the 2010-11 school year.

The school board this week OK'd the contract with North Posey's teachers association.

The pact also includes some insurance adjustments that will result in some slight savings for the school system, Superintendent Todd Camp said.

North Posey has managed to avoid teacher layoffs despite the state's funding cut to K-12 education, thanks in part to several recent retirements, Camp said.

Camp also noted that when he was promoted last year from assistant superintendent to superintendent, the district did not fill his former position.
