PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth School Board has accepted the resignations of eight additional teachers, bringing the total number of those leaving the system at the end of the school year to 14.

In an earlier meeting, the board had approved retirement incentives of $20,000 each for up to 12 teachers. At a meeting Thursday, the board approved offering the incentive to all 14 teachers. The $280,000 will be taken from the Rainy Day Fund.

According to Superintendent Dan Tyree, 11 of the 14 positions will be filled for the next school year.

This will allow the school to not cut additional positions; however those left unfilled include a receptionist, one in maintenance, a library clerk and a technology position. The receptionist position will be filled with a translator, who receives pay from a grant.
