Revenues at Northwest Indiana's five casinos didn't fluctuate much last month compared to the same month a year ago, and that's a good sign, according to gaming analyst Ed Feigenbaum.

"October is not a great month for revenues. If our casinos are continuing to hold their own in this economy, I take that as a positive," said Feigenbaum, editor of Indiana Gaming Insight.

He said as long as there is not a significant drop in revenues, he considers the casinos to be faring well.

There were some slight fluctuations, according to the monthly revenue report published online Monday by the state gaming commission, with some casinos showing slight improvements and others showing slight drops.

Those gaining include Ameristar in East Chicago, inching up from $21.5 million to $22.3 million, and Blue Chip in Michigan City going from $14.5 million to $15.4 million. Those experiencing drops include Horseshoe Hammond, going from $45.8 million to $45.4 million; Majestic Star I, from $9.7 million to $8.3 million; and Majestic Star II, from $8.2 million to $8.0 million.
