Hancock County officials are becoming more concerned about companies acquiring homes in neighborhoods and making them available for rent. They contend renters don’t always take good care of the properties and don’t have as much of a vested interest in the community as owner-residents. Leaders are considering a code change that would curtail the practice. But at least one developer says that could make it more difficult to sell homes.
