Atwood Mobile Products is consolidating operations in Iowa which could bring more jobs to Elkhart.

The recreational vehicle supplier announced Tuesday it would be closing its plant in West Union, Iowa, because of the downturn in the RV market. This consolidation will displace about 120 workers.

With excess capacity available in several of its plants around the country, Atwood officials are now deciding where to move the Iowa production lines, said Kip Ellis, vice president of sales and marketing.

One option is to bring all or some of that work to Elkhart where the company has three plants, Ellis said.

Company officials expect to make a decision sometime next week.
