Indiana House OKs $26 billion budget bill, includes kindergarten funding

INDIANAPOLIS - House Democrats late Thursday pushed through a $26 billion state budget that is strong on education funding while shortchanging health care for the poor.

The 51-48 vote sends House Bill 1001 to the Senate for consideration, where the Republican-controlled chamber is expected to temper the legislation.
