WAKARUSA — A phone app designed by an Elkhart County transportation company is helping give its drivers an edge over the competition.

Horizon Transport, a Wakarusa-based company that specializes in delivering recreational vehicles and trailers, released its Horizon Transport Mobile app on Nov. 28 after nearly a year of development.

The app allows transport drivers to see what is available for delivery and self-dispatch, see where a shipment has to go, check in while transporting a product, manage payment on the shipment and manage their own pay.

Perhaps the biggest benefit to having the app is providing drivers with an opportunity to dispatch shipments 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week – something Horizon Operations Manager Rob Jackson said competitors can't do now.
