This Fairfax Road bridge over Jackson Creek is one of the bridges in Monroe County designated as structurally deficient. David Snodgress | Herald-Times

Despite having no major river bridges, the Monroe County Highway Department must still maintain 137 bridges that span gaps of 20 feet or more. Of those, 45 were considered structurally deficient, according to a 2006 report based on federal highway guidelines.
