Union County bridge projects shelved

LIBERTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Local Government Finance cut Union County's 2007 bridge funds to improve the county's general fund balance, an action it took without asking county officials about the change.

The reduction comes at a time when Union County needs to start repairing and replacing bridges because its sufficiency ratings are dropping, highway supervisor Wanda Hartman said.
