Carrie Wilson stopped to buy gas for her pickup Monday in downtown Fort Wayne, figuring she’d better do it before the price climbed any higher.

“Do you put gas in your vehicle or do you eat?” she wondered. “I’m praying that we get through this – soon.”

Wilson, 36, was at the Clark station at Broadway and Washington Boulevard where a gallon of regular unleaded fuel was $4.16. Elsewhere in the city, many stations were asking $4.17, according to GasBuddy.com, an aggregator of fuel prices.
