MUNCIE -- Local officials are acting this week on a proposal to reorganize Muncie and Delaware County government -- but not without a few stops, starts and complaints.
Muncie City Council members had been set to meet Monday evening to transfer $35,000 in funds to pay the city's share of the cost of a consolidation financing study but reset the meeting for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Delaware County commissioners did have their own meeting Monday morning and approved the contract for the Indianapolis consulting firm that will study costs associated with the proposed consolidation. But officials then expressed concerns about the final cost of reorganization.
