Indiana is in serious need of tax reform. Reform that would take into account sales, income and property tax revenue.
Such reform would include flexibility to meet local needs, would simplify assessment and wouldn't place a heavy burden on any segment of the taxpaying public.
Unfortunately, what Hoosier voters will have before them on the Nov. 2 ballot is a referendum that will make necessary tax reform more difficult. Worse, it contains relatively little relief for homeowners.
