INDIANAPOLIS -- Republicans in the Indiana General Assembly say they’ve waited long enough for House Democrats to end their walkout and return from Illinois.
If those Democrats continue to avoid the Statehouse -- which they’ve done for nearly four weeks -- lawmakers who remain in Indianapolis will work around them, GOP leaders announced Thursday.
House Speaker Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, and Senate President Pro Tem David Long, R-Fort Wayne, said Republicans will start budget hearings next week as well as begin the process of adding proposals from bills languishing in the House to measures still alive in the Senate.
