The Indiana University budget office is recommending a base 2 percent salary increase for all faculty and staff. That guidance comes several days after a draft document appearing to recommend salary freezes was leaked to the public.
Spokesperson Mark Bode told WFIU/WTIU News in an email that a staff member posted the document inadvertently Monday before salary guidelines for the next fiscal year were finalized.
“The document was taken down when the error was discovered,” he said.

The other planning document released intentionally Thursday also said IU is waiting for information about state and federal funds that could affect merit-based increases, which are separate from the base salary increase being discussed.

In recent years, IU has routinely increased base salaries annually by up to 3 percent, averaging around 2.2 percent.
IU’s operating budget won’t be finalized until the Board of Trustees meet in June.
