INDIANAPOLIS -- A proposal aimed at increasing the number of charter schools in Indiana is eligible for a final vote in the state Senate.
Senators added 13 amendments to the measure, House Bill 1002, on Monday.
One of the changes removes the need for 51 percent of a traditional public school's teachers to consent before the school could be converted to a charter school. That leaves decisions about conversion in the hands of parents and school board members.
