MUNCIE -- Mayor Sharon McShurley is among those Indiana mayors worried that legislation to require Hoosier cities to actively enforce federal immigration laws would be a drain on already cash-strapped local governments.

"I understand the policy part of it and support it at the policy level," McShurley said Tuesday. "But I have concerns about administering the policy. If we're going to take on the role of the federal government, we have to have the financial resources to do that."
