With the governor poised to sign a bill halting distribution of $3 million to Planned Parenthood of Indiana, the group's leader says the future of its Elkhart office has been thrown into doubt.
Eight of Planned Parenthood's 28 locations statewide, including the Elkhart office, rely almost entirely on the funding lawmakers want to stop, Betty Cockrum, the group's president, said Tuesday. If Gov. Mitch Daniels signs the bill halting distribution of the $3 million in federal funds, Planned Parenthood would have to scramble to find alternate sources to offset the loss.
