Reduction In Force (RIF) topped the agenda of the Linton-Stockton School Board on Monday -- with two corporation teachers receiving a notice.
L-S Superintendent Nick Karazsia said that the RIF process is based on certification and seniority.
"We are really hoping to bring them back," he added, noting a decrease in kindergarten numbers from this year's kindergarten class of 135 to a current 89 registered for next year as another reason for the RIFs.L-S Superintendent Nick Karazsia said that the RIF process is based on certification and seniority.
"We are really hoping to bring them back," he added, noting a decrease in kindergarten numbers from this year's kindergarten class of 135 to a current 89 registered for next year as another reason for the RIFs.
"The decrease in the number of students and the financial limitations of the school corporation justifies a decrease in the number of teaching and social workers positions," he explained. "The decrease in the teachers' caseload, the projected reduction in state aid, the termination of the Communities Changing Perception, Addressing Issues, and Nurturing Transformation Grant, and the school corporation's duty to cancel the teachers' teaching contract and social workers' employment contract."
