Linton-Stockton School Corporation is starting to see an increase of students from Northeast School Corporation.

Superintendent Nick Karaszia said following the announcement that Union High School and Dugger Elementary will be closing, the school has began answering questions for prospective students.

Board member Bob Craig asked about the number of students possibly coming to Linton.

Linton-Stockton Elementary principal Kent Brewer said there are about 12 students coming in, plus there have been several tours and questions answered.

The middle school has four students with paperwork started to be transferred to Linton, and principal Jeff Sparks said he has give several tours as well.

High school principal Nathan Moore said he has answered a lot of questions from prospective students, and has about half a dozen students prepared to come in next year.

Karazsia said he anticipates those numbers will continue to rise.

"We receive a lot of phone calls and may see more enrollment as the semester ends," Karazsia explained.

He noted the school is ready to welcome transfer students, but he has encouraged students to wait until the end of the school year in order to accrue all credits and be ready for the start of the school year in August.
