Thrive West Central has announced a new program, “Homes for the Future.”
This initiative aims to stimulate the production of quality, age-friendly homes throughout West Central Indiana and help address the region’s demand for sustainable, future-ready housing.
Backed by a $1.8 million grant from the Wabash River Regional Development Authority, the program aims to incentivize homebuilders to create age-friendly, market- rate homes, addressing the growing needs of an evolving workforce and diverse population.
Developers and homebuilders selected through a request for funding proposal process could receive up to 10% of the building cost to cover eligible infrastructure expenses upon the completion of each home built.
“We envision a future where sustainable, age-friendly homes are the norm – providing an environment where our communities can thrive for decades to come,” said Ryan Keller, executive director for Thrive West Central.
Thrive’s competitive RFP process is open to any parties interested in home development throughout Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo Counties.
The selection committee will score and award proposals based on a defined scoring rubric.
Thrive West Central invites interested applicants to access its resources at www.thrivewestcentral.com/housing-hub to better understand the specific housing needs within the eligible regions.
The program’s timeframe sees all grant funding allocated to developer/builder projects by October 2023, with completion of all projects expected by Sept. 1, 2025.
