Ball State University on Thursday afternoon officially joined the Freedom Indiana coalition that is standing up for same-sex couples and their families.
BSU’s University Senate, made up of faculty, staff and students, voted 51-9 to oppose what some call the Indiana Marriage Discrimination Amendment, or House Joint Resolution 6, a proposed amendment to the state constitution reading:
“Only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall be not be valid or recognized.”
