The Indiana State Teachers Association asked members to get proactive this week in the ongoing feud between state schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz and the Indiana State Board of Education.
The ISTA issued an “Action Alert” on Tuesday urging members to contact individual state board of education members.
“Months of conflict is expected to come to a head” at the state board of education meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, the statement says.
“It is widely expected that when the board votes on new board procedures,” it says, “they will remove roles that state superintendents have possessed as chair of the board for years. ...”
But state board of education member Brad Oliver says there’s no plan to strip Ritz of her authority.
Indeed, an action item on the board’s agenda for Friday is “board operating procedures.”
