People line up in Wayne County for hepatitis A vaccines

The Wayne County Health Department held a vaccination clinic on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., administering more than 400 shots during the three-hour span. The clinic was conducted after a reported case of hepatitis A at Casey's General Store, 704 E. Main St., Centerville, on July 5.

Health department executive director Eric Coulter said people began lining up at least 45 minutes before the clinic opened to receive their vaccines, and the line was about 30 to 50 people deep by the time the clinic began.

"They started in here early; there were a lot of people out here," he said. "This was something on the front burner, that people seemed to take seriously. This place was packed."

He said at least 50 to 75 people who could not attend the clinic were able to arrange other times to come in and receive the shot.
