Orthopedics manufacturer Biomet Inc. reported net sales increased 2 percent during its most recent quarter, including a 10-percent rise in U.S. sales.
The results for the company's third fiscal quarter, which ended Feb. 28, included a net sales increase during the quarter, from $603.1 million last year to $615 million this year, according to a company statement of sales results.
Hip product sales increased 5 percent, spine sales increased 7 percent and knee sales were up 3 percent from the year-ago period. Dental implant sales dropped 16 percent and fixation sales were flat.
Sales in European markets dropped 13 percent from last fiscal year's third quarter. International sales, which include Canada, South America, Mexico and the Pacific Rim, were flat.
