Ten Evansville Courier & Press employees lost their jobs Tuesday in the latest round of staffing cuts at the newspaper.
Publisher Jack Pate said the cuts affected employees in the press, prepress, mailroom and maintenance departments.
"We are doing what we can to maintain our presence and serve the community as a daily newspaper," Pate said.
To the same end, the Courier & Press began printing a narrower newspaper earlier this month to save money on newsprint.
In February, the company announced it was cutting employees' pay and benefits.
Last November, the Evansville Courier Co. laid off 32 employees. Those reductions came not long after the company had moved the printing of The Gleaner, the Henderson, Ky., newspaper, to Evansville. As a result of that move, positions were cut in Henderson.
Both newspapers are owned by the E.W. Scripps Co.
