Allen County, Defiance, Ohio, Marion Metal Center spared in GM cuts

No General Motors Corp. plants in the region are slated to be closed.

In advance of announcing it would seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Wednesday, GM released a list of nine plants it intends to close and three others it would idle. Its Allen County assembly plant, Defiance, Ohio, foundry and Marion Metal Center were spared.
