As unemployment rises, workers retrain and hope for the best

MUNCIE -- Outside the WorkOne office in downtown Muncie Friday, David Sheward -- like hundreds of thousands of other Americans -- took another step out of unemployment.

Laid off from BorgWarner Automotive's Muncie plant in June, Sheward found himself, after 25 years, out of a job. On Friday, as new local, state and national unemployment figures were released, Sheward was preparing to go to another adult education class.
