Auto cuts ripple to parts plants in northeast Indiana

FORT WAYNE - The fallout from U.S automakers' woes is being felt at regional parts makers. More than 300 employees are joining thousands of area auto workers in a long summer layoff.

The new layoffs at Guardian Industries Corp. in Ligonier and Advanced Assembly LLC in Columbia City are sparking fears that the regional economy will be mired in recession after the rest of the country begins to recover.
